Fertilization & Pest Control

To keep your landscape in peak health, we practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM). This practice does not entirely eliminate the use of potentially harmful products, but their use is minimized. This practice requires a disciplined approach that includes regular inspections by individuals that understand plant, insect, and disease life cycles, allowing well timed minimal applications when needed.

The JubileeScape staff includes two pesticide applicators licensed by the state of Alabama to supervise landscape pesticide applications. Our staff also includes one Florida licensed landscape applicator and two others with limited applicator licenses.

We are more than happy to accommodate clients that prefer a totally organic approach to the health of our environment and their landscape. Many of the products that we currently use are certified organic. Horticultural oils and soaps are our pesticides of choice.

Mowing, Edging & Trimming

Our professional mowing services are provided by trained and experienced crews using excellently maintained equipment with sharp blades. Our personnel see that their mowers are adjusted to the proper mowing height for your turf. Improper mowing height can destroy your lawn. We use mulching mowers that return the clippings to the soil. Mulching mowers reduce fertilizer use and senseless trips to the landfill.

Pruning & Hedge Shearing

Proper pruning and hedge shearing is one of the many services that JubileeScape provides with skill and professionalism. We prune shrubs when they should be pruned and how they should be pruned.

Most blooming shrubs should not be pruned until after they have bloomed. Azaleas should be sheared after they bloom but before mid-June. Some shrubs respond well to hard pruning while others, such as junipers, will never recover from the loss of foliage.

All shrubs are different and have special needs. Proper pruning requires pruning knowledge as well as plant identification knowledge so that the correct technique is applied to specific shrubs.

Mulch & Weed Control

Fresh mulch with crisp edging, distinctive color, and a unique texture provides a beautiful accent to the landscape and is also an important component of a healthy landscape. Mulch helps maintain moisture and at the same time prevents weed seeds from germinating by shading them from sunlight. When weeds do sprout, they are easier to remove if there is a thick layer of mulch. Decomposing mulch also provides necessary nutrients for plants.

For most landscapes, our mulch of choice is pine straw from the Long Leaf Pine tree. When not available we recommend using straw from the Slash Pine tree. All pine straw is not the same. Frequently Loblolly and other inferior straws are used because they are less expensive. Long Leaf and Slash hold their color longer and are much less prone to decay.
